When we think of black dresses, we often consider that this is something we have already figured out. Given all of the years we’ve spent shopping for clothes, thinking through each purchase, and making some questionable impulse buys; surely by now we should have a number of black dresses. Every time I see a quality black dress at a reasonable price, I am reminded of why black dresses continue to be a staple in many people’s wardrobes.
One of the main reasons black dresses are appealing is because the colour does most of the heavy lifting. This allows designers to keep the rest of the design relatively simple. Since I am shopping with a budget of £30 or less, this simplicity is important. There are fewer gimmicks, fewer embellishments, and a greater likelihood that the dress will still feel acceptable
