Khaki sits in that useful territory between neutral and colour, which is exactly why the coat works harder than black or camel ever could. Boots ground it for daytime, a heel takes the same coat into evening without any real effort. Gold hardware warms it, silver keeps it cooler and more military.
Occasion wise, this is a coat for the in between days, commuting, weekend errands, travel, anything that asks for something substantial but not formal. It also does quiet work over event dressing, thrown over a slip dress on a cold evening, when the last thing anyone wants is a coat that competes with what’s underneath.
