A white block heel earns its place through proportion, not novelty. The block itself should sit under the heel with real width, enough to hold the foot steady on cobbles or a badly lit restaurant floor, and the height that works hardest for evening sits between six and eight centimetres, tall enough to change the line of a trouser or a hemline, low enough that walking there and back doesn’t become the evening’s main event.
