I spent about three years thinking bronze was a colour reserved for people with actual tans, and avoided it accordingly, wearing a lot of navy to weddings instead and blending into every marquee I stood in. Gold jewellery works, obviously, but a mix of gold and something colder, a silver cuff, a pearl, actually makes the dress look considered rather than themed. Bronze also carries a strong shoulder well, so if the dress has any structure there at all, let it show, don’t bury it under a cardigan the second there’s a breeze. Keep a proper wrap or a light jacket for later rather than piling it on early, the dress is doing enough work on its own.
Occasion wise, this is squarely a hot afternoon into evening dress. It photographs beautifully against stone churches, marquees, that particular golden hour everyone’s second cousin insists on for the group shot. It’s less at home somewhere very formal and indoors under strip lighting, where the shimmer can go a bit flat. Give it grass, a garden, low sun, a table with fairy lights strung above it, and it earns its keep completely. My sister in law wore one to a wedding in a barn and spent the whole night saying she felt like the only person dressed for the actual weather, and honestly, she was right.
