A holiday dress has to do more work than almost anything else you pack, which is exactly why so many of them fail. Flat sandals and a raffia bag by day, a heeled sandal and gold jewellery by evening, is often the only adjustment needed. Layering is minimal by design, a linen shirt worn open over the top for sun protection, or a light cardigan for the evening chill, nothing that fights the dress for attention.
