Occasion wise, this is the coat for anything that involves being seen arriving somewhere, a train platform, an office lobby, a dinner where the coat comes off last and gets noticed first. It works over tailoring for the days that run from desk to evening without a change of clothes, and it works equally well thrown over knitwear and jeans for a weekend that still wants a bit of polish.
