Red sandals are one of those categories that reward confidence over caution. A good pair announces itself, and the shade of red matters more than people expect. A low block or kitten heel in red does something a black shoe cannot, it turns a plain outfit into a considered one without any real effort in the styling. In the evening they carry a plain slip dress or a well cut trouser suit without needing any other jewellery beyond something small at the ear. They also suit occasions with a bit of formality attached, a wedding, a long lunch, a garden party, because the colour does the dressing up for you.
The ones that earn their place in a case or a hallway are the pairs with a proper footbed and a strap that sits comfortably across the top of the foot rather than digging in after an hour standing. Style is easy. Comfort is what actually gets a red sandal worn twice.
