I avoided bardot tops for years because the first one I owned, bought for a hen do in 2016, spent the entire night sliding down to my elbows while I hauled it back up every four minutes like I was adjusting a strapless bra that had given up. Turns out the problem was never the neckline, it was that particular one being cut for someone with a completely different ribcage to mine. A good bardot top actually stays put, and the difference is always in the elastic and the depth of the band, not the fabric on show.
Blue is the clever bit here. On a bardot, which is already doing a lot of work with that off the shoulder line, a proper blue takes the pressure off having to pick jewellery or a clever bag to make the outfit feel considered. A denim blue reads casual and slightly beachy, a cobalt or true blue looks properly dressed even with jeans, and both do the job without you having to think too hard on a Tuesday morning.
Styling wise, this is not a top that wants to fight for attention with anything else loud. High waisted trousers or a straight leg jean, sleeves pushed just off the shoulder rather than yanked down, and let the neckline be the whole point. For evening, tuck it into something with a bit of shine, add a heel, and it stops being a daytime top entirely.

Just check the band before you buy, tug it, move your arms about in the changing room, because that’s the only real way to know if it’s going to behave or if you’ll be hauling it up all night like I did.
